CANELO “I WILL FIGHT BENAVIDEZ FOR 150-200 MILLION”

In the realm of boxing chatter, Canelo Álvarez recently set a high bar for what could potentially be an electrifying match against David Benavidez, while also engaging in a verbal exchange with the iconic heavyweight figure, Mike Tyson.

Tyson, among others, voiced criticism towards the 33-year-old Canelo, accusing him of dodging a bout with Benavidez. Following a press conference to unveil a match with Jaime Munguía, Álvarez retorted, suggesting he'd value Tyson's input more if he were sober.

Expressing his stance to reporters, Canelo dismissed Benavidez's significance, stating the challenger "brings nothing to the table" and indicating he would only entertain the idea with a staggering price tag ranging from $150 million to $200 million.

Furthermore, the super middleweight champion challenged the notion that he's obliged to pursue the most hyped fights available. "So it is what it is," he conveyed to reporters, reminding them of his history of facing significant opponents like Golovkin, Callum Smith, Billy Joe Saunders, and Caleb Plant, implying that no matter how much he accomplishes, critics demand more.

While Álvarez has indeed faced formidable opponents in the past, such as Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Dmitry Bivol, some argue that his recent stance against Benavidez indicates a shift towards prioritizing personal interests over the sport's greater appeal.

Benavidez, on the other hand, sees Canelo's stance as insincere, especially given the exorbitant demand for a potential match. "Nothing to Offer?" Benavidez retorted on Instagram, questioning why Canelo demanded such an astronomical sum if he believed Benavidez had nothing to bring to the ring.

This back-and-forth dialogue reflects not just the negotiations between fighters, but also the broader dynamics within the sport of boxing, where financial demands and personal agendas often influence match-ups as much as sporting merit.
